How to Get There
From the North or South...Get to Interstate 65. Exit on Highway 72 W in Athens, AL. Follow Highway 72 26.7 miles to the entrance to Joe Wheeler State Park.

From the East...Get on Interstate 24 west. Exit on exit 152 at Highway 72 near South Pittsburg, TN. Stay on 72 until you get to Huntsville. at Huntsville, take the bypass (Alt 72 or I565). Exit onto I65 north on the Southwest side of Huntsville. Exit onto Highway 72 West. Follow Highway 72 26.7 miles to the entrance to Joe Wheeler State Park.

From the West...
If you come through Memphis, get on Highway 72 near Collierville, Southeast of Memphis. Somewhere on the south side of the TN River, 72 becomes Alt72. Stay south of the river on 72/Alt72 to to Wheeler Dam Road (Main Street) in Town Creek, AL. Cross the dam on Wheeler Dam Road, Turn right on 72 north of the River and the entrance to Joe Wheeler State Park is on the right.
If you come through Birmingham, get on I65 North and follow the directions for coming from the South.
