Privateer Yacht Club is proud to host this year's TVCC Regatta and invites members of the current TVCC clubs to participate in the 2023 annual event to be held at the Privateer Yacht Club, Chattanooga. TN. The event will take place on September 23 & 24 on beautiful Lake Chickamauga. This event is a club challenge event, open to members of the Privateer Yacht Club, Browns Creek Sailing Association, Muscle Shoals Sailing Club, Wheeler Yacht Club, Pickwick Sailing and Cruising Association, Lake Guntersville Sailing Club, and Concord Yacht Club. 

1. RULES 
1. This regatta will be sailed under the Racing Rules of Sailing. 
2. The governing authority is the Privateer Yacht Club. 
3. The regatta will be handicapped using the Portsmouth Yardstick, base DPN. 
4. Races will be scored using the low-point system. 
2. ELIGIBILITY 
1. The event is open to members in good standing of the TVCC member clubs as mentioned above. 
3. REGISTRATION AND FEES 
1. Boat registration is $100 & includes all meals for the skipper. Meal packages for each crew member are $50.Payable on The Club Spot.
2. All boats shall register, or verify early registration, at the clubhouse Friday evening September 22nd, or Saturday, September 23rd, 0900-1100. For early registration, complete the Registration link on privateeryachtclub.org 
4. CLASSES 
1. The event is open to keelboats, both spinnaker and non-spinnaker and to dinghy class sailboats. 
2. Each yacht club team may comprise as many entries in each of the above classes as they can field. 
3. To be scored for the Overall TVCC Club Award, a Yacht club must field at least three boats, one of which must be a keelboat from either the spinnaker or non-spinnaker fleet. 
4. The assignment of boats into one of the three classes rests entirely with the Regatta Committee, whose decision is final. 
5. RACING AREA 
1. The racing area will be on Lake Chickamauga, in the vicinity of the Privateer Yacht Club. 
2. Courses will be as established by the Race Committee. Separate courses may be sailed for keelboat and dinghy classes. 
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 
1. Sailing Instructions will be available on the PYC website, and at registration on-site, on the day of the event. 
7. SCORING 
1. For the perpetual Tennessee Valley Challenge Cup Trophy: For each race, each club is scored its best three Low Point System finishing places, one of which must be a keelboat from either the spinnaker or non-spinnaker fleet. The club with the lowest sum of scores over the two-day event is the winner of the Challenge Trophy.  
2. In the event of a tie, the club that beat the other club(s) the most times over the whole series in all fleets is the winner. In the event that there is still a tie, the club that beat the other club(s) most in the last race across all three fleets will be the winner. 
8. PRIZES 
1. There will be awards for the first three places in each class and an award for the TVCC Champion Club. 
9. LIABILITY 
1. Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

      • 1800 – Welcoming Party and Registration 
    • Saturday, Sept. 23rd 
      • 0800 – Continental Breakfast 
      • 0900 – Registration opens 
      • 1100 – Skippers Meeting 
      • 1130 – Lunch  
      • 1230 – Warning signal for first race, additional races to follow 
      • 1800 – Post race refreshments served 
      • 1900 – Dinner served at Privateer Yacht Club ($25*) 
    • Sunday, Sept 24th 
      • 0800 – Big Sunday Breakfast  
      • 1000 – Warning signal for first race of the day, races to follow. 
      • No races will be started after 1230. 
      • 1300 – Lunch with a trophy presentation to follow. 
        • *Individual meal prices apply only to those who do not buy the $50 meal package, 1 meal package is included in registration for the skipper. 
11. AMENDMENTS 
    1. Amendments to the Notice of Race will be posted on the PYC website, www.privateeryachtclub.org under “Racing, Tennessee Valley Challenge Cup”

    1. Idyllic camping on the Beautiful Tennessee River 100 feet from the clubhouse - Showers in the club. Plenty of RV spots on the grounds and of course there is no charge. 
    2. Motels near the intersection of Highway 153 and Hamill Road – less than 2 miles from the clubhouse.

14. Directions: From I-75 North Or South: Exit I-75 onto Highway 153 North. Follow 153 North approximately 6.8 miles crossing the Chickamauga Dam Bridge. Immediately after exiting the bridge take the Lake Resort Drive exit. Go fully around the traffic circle (Round About) and turn onto Lake Resort Drive. Travel approximately 1.5 miles turning right onto Gann Store Road.  There will be a triangle of grass in the intersection on your right. Follow this past Gold Point Marina, about 1.1 miles. Keep going about 5 more blocks until the road makes a 90-degree right and then an immediate 90-degree left at the top of a slight hill. Do not take the 90-degree left but go straight ahead onto Privateer Road. At the bottom of the road is a cul-de-sac.  At the end of the cul-de-sac is the entrance gate to the Club.
