Sailing Education

The Privateer Sailing Education Foundation (PSEF) provides management of all aspects of sailing education at Privateer Yacht Club.  It is a separate organization that functions symbiotically with PYC.  The PSEF organizes and delivers sailing education for adults and children as well as the physically challenged.

The PYC Board of Directors voted unanimously to establish a charitable 501C3 Corporation.  The new not-for-profit Privateer Sailing Education Foundation will oversee and administer PYC’s Learn to Sail programs while being able to receive tax-deductible contributions from interested parties.

The Privateer Sailing Education Foundation brings awareness and appreciation of the nautical arts and traditions and broadens horizons for adults, all youth and some physically disabled through nautical training and boating activities. The purposes for the organization are exclusively charitable, to foster the instruction and training of individuals to improve or develop their capabilities in the nautical arts, including sailing and the development of sailors for national and international sailboat racing competition.

To establish the Privateer Sailing Education Foundation, the Board enlisted the help of attorneys with a specific practice and experience in establishing 501C3 foundations for yacht clubs, while also communicating directly with Concord Yacht Club and Park City Sailing Association to learn from their decade-long experience operating sailing foundations.
